Original Playwrighting Contest and Production!!
Submissions: 18 and underPlaywrights!!!
As you may know, the Theater Bug is proud to produce 3 original plays a year. Two written by artistic director and founder, Cori Anne Laemmel and one written by our Extreme Playwrighting group. This year we would like to add to the celebration of new works in Nashville and at the Bug, by announcing our original playwrighting contest!

Playwrights 18 and under will be asked to submit an original one act that runs 30 minutes and is not a musical. Pieces must be appropriate for actors ages 6-18 and cater to a cast of 15-25. If your piece is selected, it will be work shopped with theater Bug staff, local playwrights and actors and then rehearsed and performed at the end of the summer. Playwrights will be asked to be a part of the one-week rehearsal process.

Submission deadline is: Monday, June 1st. For submission guidelines, and forms please click HERE to download.

There is so much that goes into the preparation of a musical theater audition, from choosing your 16 bars, to learning tips on how to nail a dance call, to cold reading from the script! During this one-week camp students will receive group and individual instruction on how to perfect your audition. Each participant will work on a 16 bar song selection, along with cold readings, resume and headshot information, ways to deal with nerves and how to dress to succeed! At the end of the week each student will perform their pieces in a mock audition for local casting directors, instructors and professional actors, and receive feedback from behind the table! This camp is advised for students with some prior experience.REGISTER
